May Villa is a comfortable detached family holiday home in an enviable position near to the square of thatched cottages of Inner Hope Cove and just 50 yards from one of the beaches of Hope Cove and Devon Coast Path. There are sea views from many rooms and it is spacious enough for two families but does not feel too large for a couple or small group for an out of high season holiday. There is a small hotel for teas and meals very close by and it is a 5 minute walk to Outer Hope Cove with other hotels, pub, cafe, post office and general store.

The Area

Hope Cove can be found 2 miles off the A381 Kingsbridge to Salcombe road. It is an old fishing village nestling below Bolt Tail in one of the most picturesque parts of the South Hams. It is surrounded by unspoilt National Trust land. There are two sandy and stone beaches at Hope Cove.

There are also other fine beaches in the area at Thurlestone, Bantham and Bigbury in one direction and Salcombe in the other. Thurlestone also has 9 hole and 18 hole golf courses.

Kingsbridge, the capital of the South Hams is only 6 miles away with more extensive shopping, a leisure centre with pool and boat trips down the Kingsbridge estuary to Salcombe (in season), a famous sailing centre. Both towns have plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants.

The surrounding area is ideal for walking and tennis, fishing, sailing, golf and horse riding are all available nearby.

Accommodation

The accommodation, which has central heating throughout, comprises:
On the ground floor: Entrance hall with settle. Dining room with bay window. Spacious, fitted kitchen with tiled floor, ceramic topped cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and door to garden. A double bedroom (5ft bed). A bunk room (2 full size bunk beds). Small sitting room/snug with sofa and portable TV (ideal for children’s day room and to set up computer games if required). Shower room with shower cubicle, WC and washbasin.

On the first floor: Two stairs to the left lead immediately into a triple bedroom (4ft 6in bed and 3ft bed). Two stairs to the right lead to the landing off which there is a dual aspect sitting room with 2 sofas, TV, video, DVD player and stereo system. A double bedroom (5ft bed). A twin room (3ft beds). A bathroom with bath, WC and washbasin.

Outside there is a small garden, mainly paved to give a large patio area with original stable walls on two sides making it private and sheltered. There are garden chairs, a table and a BBQ. There is parking for 2 cars in the drive but this is quite narrow. You may find it more convenient to find parking on the street for larger cars.

Linen is not included but linen hire can be arranged. All beds have duvets and pillows. Travel cot and high chair are available for hire. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement. A dog charge will apply. Changeover day: Friday.
