May Villa and Trellis cottage are both situated in Inner Hope Cove. The central
square of Inner Hope Cove has remained unchanged for centuries; a cluster of picturesque
and much photographed cob and thatched cottages. Inner Hope Cove also has direct access
to the surrounding National Trust land via the many footpaths and the Devon Coast
Path to Bolt Tail then on to Soar Mill Cove with a refreshment stopping place
at The Port Light. Inner Hope Cove also has a small hotel open for lunches, cream
teas and dinner.
Outer Hope Cove also has a few small hotels, the Hope & Anchor pub and
a Post Office and General Store and cafe. It is from Outer Hope Cove that you can
continue along the Coast Path towards Thurlestone and Bantham with views
of Bigbury Bay and Burgh Island all the way.
Hope Cove has two excellent safe bathing beaches (which permit dogs on a lead)
with slipways for boat launches, plenty of sand
for sandcastles and rocks for rock pooling. It is a very popular for
family beach holidays in summer and also attracts divers, water sport
enthusiasts and walkers. Seals frequent the coves around bolt tail and
can regularly be seen playing in the waves.
